FIREPLACE, CHIMNEY AND HEARTH RESTORATION

A workshop for period houses and the masonry that heats them. We are building something for 2027, and this page is where it will appear.

ENQUIRIES

Washington DC Metro Area

01
THE RESTORATION WORKSHOP
Fireboxes, flues, dampers and chimney breasts in houses that predate the codes they are now held to. Survey first, and the survey decides the work.
02
THE FEDERAL LINE AND THE MINISTRY LINE
Chimneypieces named for the figures of their periods, drawn for Federal-era and country-house rooms respectively. Made to measure, which is why none of them carries a price before a site visit.
03
McLEAN’S GROUND
Outdoor stone: hearths, terraces, walkways and garden masonry, built to the same tolerances as the work indoors.
04
THE MANTEL ROOM
A room online where a chimneypiece can be configured in three dimensions, in the real finishes, before a mason is ever booked.

Survey before specification. No price precedes a site visit.

Plain language for anything concerning fire, gas or carbon monoxide.

Work recorded, so the house keeps its own file.
